From our dearest Andrew!
11:03 pm;
Saturday, 14 July 2007

Hi guys, below is an passage I've extracted from Andrew's blog.
At first I wanted to just take an excerpt from it, but after reading it, I was impacted by it.
He wrote about being thankful to God below recently, and to me, as I see him living that way, God's blessing just seemed to come CHASING after Him. Recognising God's hand that is blessing him, so many wonderful things are happening in his life!
You know Andrew, I really believe that one day you're going to be a mighty man of God, and I really believe what Brother Darren said to you before he laid his hands on you (Heh, I was listening also while preparing to catch you)
In your life will come many temptations, but stay strong - Keep growing, keep fighting. Always remember that it is God that has blessed us with every good things.
Thanks for your lame jokes, thanks for your leadership, thanks for your testimony, thanks for being a example in reaching out to friends so fervently.
Most importantly thanks for being such a wonderful Brother and Friend.

Below is the message that Brother Darren preached today, together with the experience and personal testimony of our dearest Andrew!

2451 words in total!!!
(Andrew you're amazing! ThannnnkkkkkssSSSSS!!! You make a difference man!)

Here it is! -

(-Andrew-) Oh I tell ... today something breaks as the Spirit of the Lord came upon me like electricity.

Today I had a great cellgroup meeting, more of a combined cgm with bro Darren.

It was so great... I enjoyed the welcome game of TRANSFORMERS!! Hehe I was so lucky that I became the first to qualify to win the game... 5 winners

and I won myself a Hershey choccie with cookies and cream!!!! Wee I munched on it after cgm.

Oh I tell you, today bro Darren preached a great word of faith. I can see that he really preached out the sermon because he spent 95% of the time looking very serious and talking to us. I just liked this sermon. Its continue or a part B of the previous one, (though the beginning part is the repeat of the previous Part A)

He shared that we are to serve God's purpose in my generation. Acts 13:36, 22 says

36"For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed

and verse 22 says

22After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: 'I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.'

So what did David do in order to serve God's purpose in his generation?

He had a heart after God. We need to learn how to touch God on our own so that wherever we are, no matter what situation we are in, from Monday to Friday, in the marketplace, we have to bring the presence of God to the marketplace in order to do great things from God.

KEY: I need learn how to touch God on my own anywhere, anytime

you know; we need the presence of God in the marketplace more than we need in church!

Because alot of people can touch God during service, but when they are back to the marketplace, they go back to their old self and dwelled in their work without being filled with the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 23:1-6 says

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This song is written by David himself. He brought the sheep that belonged to his father out to the fields and meadows to gaze. And he was sitting under the tree, worshipping the Lord on his own. His heart is after the Lord.

Hence, can we touch God from Monday to Friday?

There are 2 things that we encounter in our spiritual walk to God.

1) Dry places, deserts and valleys.

a) Dry places are the places where you just can’t feel God at all. Where the river of God doesn’t flow.

b) Desert. Nothing happens in your life even though you have great dreams

c) Valley is the place of depression, where you feel down, rejected and lonely

the solution is to seek God's presence everyday on your own. You have to pray when you don’t feel like praying. You have to worship God when you don’t feel like worshipping. You have to seek God when you don’t feel like seeking Him.

That is when SOME-thing Breaks......

David learnt how to breakthrough in the dry places, deserts and valleys.

Will you experience the power of God outside church from Monday to Friday? You must have a heart that is after God forever.

The FOUNDATION in every TRUE Christian life

is to Live in the presence of God everyday.

You know, Bro Darren said something that really encouraged me

" You may see people who are better than you. They may be smarter in math than you. They may be more creative than you. They may be more rich than you. They may be stronger physically than you. They may be better in everything of you.

But, if you are filled with the Spirit, YOU + Holy Spirit are greater than all of them"

and then brother Darren went on preaching.

The greatest enemy of faith is the memory.

It keeps you limited and stationary. One may praise you and you feel so touched and blessed and few months later you forget about it.

However, one may scold you and reprimand you and you will be angry and bitter in the inside and until 1 year later you will still remember it.

That is when you lose your faith......

however we can use the memory as an advantage for your faith.

Let’s look back at our lives. From the day the Holy Spirit till today. Think about the things that you cannot do but with the Holy Spirit, you had done it. Things that human strength cannot accomplish.

Memory would not be an obstacle of faith then, but an advantage to it.

Now the main content ===============

1 Samuel 17:1-4

1 Now the Philistines gathered their forces for war and assembled at Socoh in Judah. They pitched camp at Ephes Dammim, between Socoh and Azekah.
2 Saul and the Israelites assembled and camped in the Valley of Elah and drew up their battle line to meet the Philistines.
3 The Philistines occupied one hill and the Israelites another, with the valley between them.
4 A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. He was over nine feet tall.

Goliath represents the giant in the marketplace. He is the giant to the Israelites.

The philistines challenged the Israelites. They made a deal. Whoever can slay their champion, the loser will serve the winner. Goliath represented the Philistines.

8 Goliath stood and shouted to the ranks of Israel, "Why do you come out and line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and are you not the servants of Saul? Choose a man and have him come down to me.
9 If he is able to fight and kill me, we will become your subjects; but if I overcome him and kill him, you will become our subjects and serve us."

the Israelites were scared and when they saw Goliath, they ran as fast as they can.

In the marketplace, people challenge us. They mock at us for being the salt and the light of the world, they mock at us for being dumb Christians. They mock at us for being filled with The Spirit. They mock at us for being in a church. The marketplace challenges us in many ways. If we lose, we serve the world. But if we win, the world will serve the church.

It is a battle of domination, the greatest battle of all under the Heavens.

We should not shrink back and run away from the Goliath in our world. We should not run away from the problems we face, no matter how big it is. We should not also shrink back in fear and go to one corner and pray and pray and pray and bind the "Goliath". Faith without works is dead. You may sincerely pray and believe, but if you don’t act it out, nothing will happen! God is not only looking for a prayer who prays and seeks after Him, but God is also looking for a prayer WARRIOR, one who prays and then steps out and fight with the "Goliath"

we have to be bold in facing our problems.

26 David asked the men standing near him, "What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?"

David was bold to speak these words. The men referred to his people.

And then David wanted to go out and fight Goliath.

But Saul disapproved it

33 Saul replied, "You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a boy, and he has been a fighting man from his youth."

Saul said David was just a youth! He looked down on David, seeing that he is powerless.

But David, still insisted. He was confident of winning. What was that so?

34 but David said to Saul, "Your servant has been keeping his father's sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock,
35 I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it.
36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God.
37 The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine."

because David defeated the lion and the bear. He is now prepared for another battle.

1 Samuel 17:40-51

40 Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.
41 Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David.
42 He looked David over and saw that he was only a boy, ruddy and handsome, and he despised him.
43 He said to David, "Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?" And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 "Come here," he said, "and I'll give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!"
45 David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
46 This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.
47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands."
48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.
49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.
50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine's sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran

and David defeated Goliath.

What is the second thing that we encounter in life?

2) The lion and the bear.

The solution is to confront them.

When David saw the lion and the bear trying to kill the sheep, David slew both of the beasts with his bare hands.

The lion and the bear are your emotions, the feelings of giving up, the stress, difficulties etc....

God allows them to come into your life, because God wants to prepare you for the future battles in your life.

Now another shocking thing that he said was this

all the battles you fight in life.... is the SAME. Except, it is at a different scale of difficulty

David is confident that he will win Goliath because he had been there before. Previously he was at the lion and the bear. Now he fought the next battle. It is the same, except it is at a bigger scale that is more difficult.

God wants to bring you up to the next level, from Glory to Glory. You have to conquer every battle in order to move up to the next level.

What are the 4 things that you have to do?

1)Disciple your mind
2)Disciple your heart
3)Disciple your spirit
4)Be open to the Holy Spirit

the greatest enemy may not be the outward enemy... the challenges you face, but is the one in you, the thoughts and voices that fight for your attention... telling you that it is not possible, it is too difficult, that you are not good enough, that you do not deserve to do it....

you have to control your mind, spirit and heart. There is no time for emotions in battles.

And the fourth thing is to be open to the Holy Spirit. Remember, you + The Holy Spirit are the greatest among all your enemies.

2nd Cor 10:3-6 says

3For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

The weapons that we wield are not swords and guns and etc. but it is of the sword of the Holy Spirit.

We have to punish all disobedience. That is self-discipleship that you have to do it yourself

Philippians 4:6-7

6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 1: 13

13Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed

The devil will fight to make you believe that you are not baptized in the Holy Spirit even if we really are. He wants to make you know that you cannot do things for the Lord.

He said another thing that hit upon me

when you bring friends, even if they raise their hands during the altar call, they responded and stepped out to pray with pastor, they do not return back to church.

This is the battle that you have to fight with the devil. You fight on to invite the person back to church; you do everything you can so that he will be touched by the Love of God.

There is a great battle that is going on right now in your LIFE!

And after brother Darren halted his preaching, he told us to put away all of your things and stand up with him.

He prayed in the Spirit and he asked for an altar call of those who are dry in the Spirit, bounded by things, captives of sin in the world to come forward. And he prayed for them. That me too. The first wave, he laid hands on heads and the glory of God came upon them.

As I stepped forward... I experience something. Supernatural. Something burning inside. That is really hot. And I remembered 1 year ago, I had this same thing before in a deliverance service.

And now I had it again. In the second wave, I stepped out and Brother Darren started laying hands on people.

I felt so afraid. And yet so daring. I just sensed a wall in front of me. And when Brother Darren came to me, he took a step back. and he muttered something... he said that I will do great things for God.... and serve the purpose God has placed in me in my generation and he laid hands on me.

And electricity surged through me and the wall in front of me crumbled and collapsed and was crushed into smithereens. And I trembled. I wasn’t sure what was going on at that time. And I felt all fear left me and all chains broken. I was set free.

You gotta experience it yourself. At that time, I experienced the Hand of God upon me. Trembling like never before. I couldn’t control it. It’s just so powerful and the power of God is working through me. I remembered a girl that screamed when Brother Darren laid hands on her. It was really loud. And she was the first anyways.

She was known to bottle everything up in herself and she was probably bounded by sin.

Oh man and today I left the place changed and transformed. I was set free from every kind of the sin that I committed and I was delivered by the power of God.

God is really speaking to me today. Tomorrow I’m going for service and after that I will have the drama ministry auditions. Hope I will get in! Hehe I dunno wat to do yet so I will just go for it.

You know, we have to move on in life, moving up to the next level each time we fight in a battle, like the way you play dota - You don’t get ur level 1 hero to charge at Roshan, would you?

But you would train at low level neutral creeps or wave creeps and slowly when you reach level 25; you would go and slay the biggest monster in dota.

wow that’s a cool analogy... hehe lol

recently I have alot of opportunities to appear on stage

next week I will have the racial harmony day celebration and me and HuanRan are the emcees!

And few weeks later I will be in a debate on bloggers’ blogs that speaks against the society like racism and stuff

and then more weeks later, I will be appearing on stage to act out a drama!

Wow cool opportunities

and one thing that I want to glorify God is

I have been accepted in my school Guard of Honor in the school ndp!!!

Only the best in the whole NCC from sec 1 to sec 4 will be in it and of course, we will be trialed and I passed!

God is putting me in the head and not the tail, above and not beneath and I thank God for that. Hallelujah!

And what’s more we get to wear number 1!! That’s the cool white color uniform. Wah wear liao confirm super suai!

Hahahah hehe that’s all now. Thanks for reading!
